YouTube Confirms Stable Volume Feature

YouTube announced that the company is now testing its Stable Volume feature across global mobile users.

The feature is meant to balance and even out volume across YouTube videos. This is intended to cater request to put audio normalizers on the platform due to varying volumes on different videos on YouTube.

However, since the Stable volume feature is still under experimentation not all users will able to see it on their settings.

Stable Volume Revealed Prior To Official Announcement

Before YouTube confirmed its existence, some users have already discovered the feature.

One of which is YouTube creator M.Brandon Lee who tweeted, "I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I think it may be a normalizer and compressor that evens out the volume so you don't have big jumps in volume between videos and even parts of a video itself."

In a response to TechCrunch, YouTube confirmed the new feature.

"We are currently testing a new YouTube listening control feature that enables a more consistent sound for users when watching videos," YouTube stated.

YouTube Tests New Way to Watch in 2x Speed

In addition to the upcoming volume feature, YouTube is also experimenting with new way to watch videos in 2x speed.

The test is current available for YouTube Premium subscribers where they can long-press on the video player to set the playback speed in 2x, instead of going to the settings.

YouTube's long-press test will only be available until August 13 with no further announcement on its availability outside the subscription.
