White Verizon DROID ULTRA press image leaks

An image of Verizon's DROID ULTRA has leaked, showing the smartphone will soon be offered in a white color option.

Motorola's DROID family is a smartphone lineup exclusive to Verizon. The DROID handsets initially served as the carrier's response to the iPhone before it was granted the privilege of selling Apple's smartphone. The DROID brand has continued nonetheless and this year it's comprised of three Motorola smartphones - the DROID MINI, DROID ULTRA, and DROID MAXX.

The smartphones benefit from some of the software and hardware features found on the Moto X. Just like the Moto X, the DROIDs can be controlled with your voice, even if the smartphone is asleep. If you want to take a picture in a flash, flick your wrist twice and the smartphone will automatically wake and open the camera app.

Verizon launched the Moto X and the DROID lineup around the same time in August and while the Moto X came in the standard choice of black or white, the DROIDs were only available in black. Thanks to a leaked image, we now know the DROID ULTRA will soon be offered by Verizon in an all white body.

Evleaks has once again posted an image of an unreleased smartphone, and this time it's the Verizon DROID ULTRA with an all white case. The specs are expected to be the same as the current DROID ULTRA, which features a 5-inch 1280 X 720 Super AMOLED HD display and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, although Motorola has already confirmed it will be releasing Android 4.4 KitKat to the DROID lineup in the near future. It's powered by Motorola's X8 Mobile Computing System, which uses a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and a quad-core graphics processing unit (GPU). It has 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. Motorola includes a 10-megapixel rear camera that can also record 1080p HD video, along with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for chatting. When it comes to wireless, you'll find a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. The smartphone ships with a non-removable 2,130 mAh battery.

The tipster doesn't give any other information, but recent reports suggest that the DROID MINI will also be getting a white variant. There's still no word on the DROID MAXX yet. We'll update you as more details become available.
