Meta’s Threads Will Have a Web App Soon

The Instagram-based app has been successful with its release so far. Even then, there are still a couple of features that are missing to make it the go-to alternative for Twitter. The good news is, Meta is already working on a web app for Threads and might even be rolled out soon.

Threads Web App

A lot of users who signed up for Meta's microblogging site were excited at the beginning but soon started noticing the features that it lacked. For example, it still had no messaging feature just like Twitter has direct messages, but Meta is dedicated to making the app better.

Soon enough, users will be able to access the site through the web, which is among the things that the app fell short on. Instagram head Adam Mosseri stated on Tuesday that a web version is already being worked on by the team.

Even without the web version, Mac users are supposed to be able to open the app since Silicon-powered Macs can run any iPhone or iPad app. As mentioned in 9To5Mac, developers chose to disable the option as it is enabled by default.

According to Threads engineer Jessel, the team tried opening Threads through the web internally, but it was "buggy and not worth investing time to fix" when they had a lot more important things to do on iOS.

With that being said, it might be a while before the web app or compatibility for Threads becomes available for Macs, or at least not before the developers are done working with the Threads app on iOS devices.

The only thing Meta announced was that they are working on the web app, but did not disclose when it will be rolled out. Reports say that Threads can already be accessed through the web, although the user would be limited to viewing posts and profiles.

They will not be able to publish posts, interact with other users, and more. It's kind of like browsing through Twitter via the web without logging in. The upcoming web version is not the only news for Threads as it already launched new features for the Android and iOS apps.

New Threads Features

Among the complaints about Threads is how the app arranges its feed. At first, users will see various posts on their timelines even though they don't follow the user who posted them, and the content is not necessarily placed in the order of which was the latest.

Users can now choose to view their feeds in chronological order, which can help if they want to stay on top of things and view the latest updates, news, and information from the people they follow, and it's not just that too.

In order to filter your feed and only view posts from people you follow, you can tap the Threads logo or home icon. As reported by Engadget, you will then be presented with two options which are the Following feed and the For You feed.
