The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be offered in three new color options: Merlot Red, Rose Gold White and Rose Gold Black.
Samsung has seen very strong sales of its latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 3. The company announced at the end of October it had already shipped over 5 million units of the 5.7-inch smartphone. The Galaxy Note line is still considered to be the gold-standard when it comes to phablets, similar to the way the iPad is viewed in the tablet world. Samsung just continues to innovate and push each new Galaxy Note forward with impressive software, hardware, and a great ecosystem of apps created exclusively for the smartphone/tablet hydbrid.
Samsung will likely add more and more sales to the Galaxy Note 3's totals since it has just announced three new colors, Red Merlot, Rose Gold White, and Rose Gold Black.
"At Samsung Mobile, we understand that consumers view their mobile devices as an extension of their personal style, and Samsung is committed to delivering fresh ways for consumers to express themselves," said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. "By introducing these new editions of Galaxy Note 3, we want to provide our fashion-forward consumers with more ways to express their personality and tastes through our technology."
The Rose Gold White and Rose Gold Black are accent colors (metal rim around edges) on the standard white and black Galaxy Note 3, while the Merlot Red's color is around the display and back case of the phablet.
As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 uses a 5.7-inch 1080p Full HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 386 pixels per inch (ppi). The phablet ships with Android 4.3 and Samsung TouchWiz Nature UX. Samsung is rumored to be testing Android 4.4 KitKat for the Note 3 already and is expected to make it available soon. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and a healthy 3GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user interface and support processor-intensive apps.
When it comes to on-board cameras you'll find a high-end 13-megapixel illuminated rear camera with "smart stabilization" and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, with both cameras able to record 1080p HD video. Samsung is offering the Galaxy Note 3 in 32GB and 64GB options and also includes a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The company has also packed in an IR blaster to turn the Note 3 into a universal remote control. Samsung has packed a large 3,200 mAh removable battery and enhanced S Pen functionality.
The Merlot Red, Gold Rose White, and Gold Rose Black will begin shipping this month in China. Samsung has not announced when or if the new color choices will make their way to the U.S., but we'll keep you updated.
