Air Canada passengers will now have more movies to entertain themselves with.
The airliner company recently announced it is partnering with Apple to bring content from Apple TV+ to its airliners, giving Air Canada passengers more ways to enjoy their flights.
Air Canada is Canada's largest airline, the country's flag carrier, and a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's most comprehensive air transportation network. The company provides scheduled service directly to more than 180 airports in Canada, the United States, and Internationally on six continents.
Apple TV+ In Air Canada Flights
Air Canada mentioned in its announcement that it is expanding its "award-winning in-flight entertainment" with content exclusive to Apple TV+ starting on Aug. 1.
According to a statement from John Moody, Managing Director of Product Design at Air Canada, this expansion is due to Air Canada's newly minted partnership with Apple. Thanks to this partnership and the subsequent expansion, the company was able to get its efforts to expand its onboard entertainment on track by more than 95% since last year.
"At Air Canada, we know that inflight entertainment is an important part of our customers' travel journey, particularly on long-haul flights." Moody stated. "We look forward to welcoming customers onboard to catch up on their favourite Apple TV+ shows or discover new hits during their flight."
A report from 9to5Mac mentioned that Air Canada's onboard entertainment system features more than 420 movies and a thousand TV show episodes. It also has 130 music albums and multiple podcasts for passengers to enjoy regardless of their flight class as of press time.
Aside from Apple TV+ content, Air Canada's onboard entertainment also comes with live Canadian TV featuring English and French channels, which it started offering in Nov. 2022.
As a bonus, Air Canada is offering two free months of Apple TV+ to new and returning subscribers to celebrate its partnership with Apple.
While Air Canada mentioned that Apple TV+ content will get added to its onboard entertainment on Aug. 1, it didn't disclose if the exclusive content will be available on all of its aircraft by then or not. It might decide to gradually roll out Apple TV+ content to its aircraft.
What To Look Forward To On Air Canada Flights
Airliner flights can be a time-consuming affair even at the best of times, even if one's flight is with Air Canada. Thankfully, Apple TV+'s arrival to the company's onboard entertainment offers a variety of reasons to sit back and enjoy the flight as much as possible.
If you're looking for a TV show to binge during an Air Canada flight, you may want to look out for Apple TV+ shows like "The Last Thing He Told Me" featuring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of "Game of Thrones" fame, and Gothic drama series "The Essex Serpent."
If these TV shows aren't to your preference, you may want to see if Apple TV+'s most popular hit shows like "Ted Lasso," "Trying," and "Bad Sisters" will scratch your in-flight entertainment itch while flying Air Canada.
