Rebranded Twitter is Getting One-Star Reviews Since the Change

So far, the majority have been unhappy about the changes that the previously known bird app is going through. Ever since Elon Musk decided to rebrand Twitter as X, its users have been criticizing the decision, and they have made that clear by submitting one-star reviews for the app.

Users Calling the Bird Back

Elon Musk's rebranding efforts have led to the frustration of many users. So far, the tech billionaire's every change has mostly been received negatively, and Twitter becoming X is the last straw for a lot of people.

This has been made clearer after users flooded the App Store with one-star reviews. 78% of the US iOS user base has been expressing their disappointment since the day of rebranding. According to Tech Crunch, that has since gone down to 50%, but it's still not a good number.

While most of the negative reviews are about the overall changes since Musk acquired Twitter, a lot are also directly responding to the renaming of the platform. Some are asking for the company to bring back the iconic bird icon while others are asking what "X" means.

People are even going as far as calling the outcome a "dumpster fire," according to reports. The platform is also seeing a decline in the time users spend on it for the week by 7%, while daily sessions per user dropped by 6% since the app was renamed.

It's not as surprising since users are typically against big changes in an app that they have been used to. X is relatively new and based on Musk's visions for it, it still has a long way to go. Hopefully, the new changes will be to the users' liking.

On the bright side, there are some aspects of the then-Twitter app that are positive. For example, the number of installs increased by 20% after the rebranding with a 3-4% growth in weekly users. The app usage was also at an all-time high, according to CEO Linda Yacarrino.

It still doesn't change the fact that the company discarded a brand that has already been built up over the years. People are already familiar with the bird icon, the name Twitter, as well as other parts of it like tweeting and retweeting.

Musk's Plans for X

The tech billionaire has already shared his vision for X, specifically how he aims to make it an "everything app" that people can use for, well, everything. He likened his goal to that of WeChat, a popular messaging platform in China that has several functions as well.

The problem is, things are not going so well for the company. All of Musk's efforts to make X profitable have been backfiring. For instance, making the platform a reflection of his "free speech" ideals has chased off a lot of advertisers.

This is a huge problem for the company especially since a lot of its revenue comes from ad sales. The last report about the company's valuation has not been good either, with it being a third of its value when Musk purchased it for $44 billion, far from his vision of it being a $250 billion company.
