Since Motorola's servers couldn't handle the demand for its Cyber Monday deal and went offline, the company offered the same deal on Dec. 4 only to completely sell out in 9 minutes.
Motorola had high hopes for its Cyber Monday sale. The company announced that it would offer the flagship Moto X on any carrier with the ability to be customized using the Moto Maker service at $150 off its normal price. The company offered the off-contract Moto X in 16GB for $349 and 32GB for $399.
When Cyber Monday rolled around Motorola's site could not handle the demand of so many customers trying to purchase the discounted Moto X. The high demand caused Motorola's online store to go down, as well as the Moto Maker site that was allowing customers to design their handsets.
The site remained offline for hours and Motorola issued an apology, saying that it would offer the same deal on Dec. 4 and Dec. 9. Nine minutes after the deal went live on Dec. 4, however, Motorola had completely sold out of all of its supply for Wednesday's sale. The company posted a message to its Google+ page at 12:09 PM letting the world know it had sold out of the smartphone. The company also reminded customers that it would offer the same deal on Dec. 9 and urged interested customers to try again on Monday.
As a reminder, the Moto X features a crisp and bright 4.7-inch 720p HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. The smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with Motorola's X8 Computing and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU). It ships with Android 4.2 but is upgradable out of the box to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat via an OTA update. It comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.
Its camera capabilities include a 10-megapixel CLEAR PIXEL rear shooter with autofocus, LED flash, and the ability to record 1080p HD video. It also has a 2-megapixel front facing camera for video chat,. The smartphone's wireless connectivity options include 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with LE and EDR. Motorola ships the Moto X with a 2,200 mAh non-removable battery.
If you missed out on this deal, you still have another shot on Dec. 9 at 12 pm EST.
