Call of Duty is Naming Cheaters In-Game When They Are Detected

If you're a Call of Duty player, you might want to think twice before trying something funny to get ahead. The game is introducing a new way to shame cheaters in the game once they have been detected, and it's a worse fate than being banned.

Call of Duty Will Start Naming Cheaters In-Game

Activision has released updates for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone, and it includes the new Ricochet anti-cheat system. With the new measure, cheaters in the game would be humiliated for playing unfairly.

What the team in Ricochet calls "problem players" will be called out in the lobbies by showing the gamer's tag in the kill feed and branding them as a cheater. This way, players will know that someone has had an unfair advantage in the game.

In a way, it also serves as a warning which will scare off players who are planning to use cheats in the future. Nothing like name-dropping to make an example of players who refuse to win a game fair and square.

Team Ricochet has been creative with their other measures when it comes to punishing players who deserve it. There were instances when cheaters won't be able to see the enemies and their weapons would be taken away, as reported by Engadget.

There were also times when the anti-cheat system would clone real players, which are intended to draw out cheaters that tries to target those clones. The anti-cheater method is a welcome change, especially after Call of Duty had a little incident where hackers infected players in online lobbies.

Cheating in FPS Games

There are a lot of cheats that can be applied to FPS games, and it usually ruins the matches for everyone else. Some even stream their gameplays online to show how these hacks work as well as how other players can use them.

In some instances, players would use an aimbot, which lets them skip the hours of practice that others go through to have better aim. Aimbots usually snap the crosshair at the enemy for an easy kill, which is not to be confused with aim assist, which is mostly normal for console gameplay.

There are also other ways such as tracking and highlighting enemies. There are hacks wherein players would be able to see where the enemies are on the map, making it easier for them to avoid them or plan an attack.

As for highlighting enemies, this allows a player to see the enemies when they are nearby even when they are behind a wall. Anyone can see why it can be fun to have such an advantage, but it's important to consider how it will affect other players in the match.

As pointed out by eSports, it could also be a skill issue where a player cannot rank up without assistance. Sometimes, players are just plain trolling, which is not uncommon in the multiplayer fps scene and long-time players can attest to that.
