Spotify Expands Its AI DJ to 50 Markets Worldwide

Spotify's AI-powered DJ is making more rounds worldwide.

The company behind the popular audio-streaming platform recently announced it is expanding the coverage of its Ai-powered DJ to more countries worldwide, making it available to 50 markets as of press time.

Spotify launched its AI-powered DJ feature in February and first expanded its coverage in May.

Better Audio Experience Worldwide

Spotify mentioned in its announcement that starting on Aug. 8, Spotify Premium users in select markets in Europe, Asia, and Africa, and those in Australia and New Zealand, can now access its AI-powered DJ feature.

Despite this expansion, however, Spotify clarified that the Spotify Premium users in these regions can only access its DJ feature in the English version of the app. There is still no word of the feature coming with localized languages; Spotify Premium users in the covered regions can't use DJ with their own language.

Fortunately, the DJ feature is still in its beta phase; the company is still testing it. As such, there may be some hope for localized languages coming to the feature in the foreseeable future.

Nevertheless, Spotify Premium users can utilize DJ to get recommendations for artists they're "bound to love but have yet to discover."

The feature is a personalized AI guide powered by OpenAI that will base its service on a Premium user's music taste when choosing recommendations. Interestingly, it will also deliver a commentary on why the feature suggested the tracks it chose to Premium users in a "stunningly realistic voice."

Not everything is new though - Spotify's DJ feature will even throw a few of a Premium user's old favorites to keep them interested with its curated list. Even after giving Premium users a curated list, it doesn't stop learning.

Spotify mentioned that once its DJ feature gives a Premium user a fresh batch of suggestions, it will review what they enjoyed listening to and suggest more songs based on its latest findings. However, if a Premium user doesn't like the feature's selection, they could tap on the DJ button so the AI could create a new lineup for them to listen to.

Accessing the feature isn't difficult as long as a Spotify user is subscribed to a Premium plan and lives in a market where DJ is available. Premium users only need to open the Spotify mobile app on their smartphone, go to the Music feed on Home and tap DJ.

They can also find the feature in the "Made for You" hub within the Search tab for easier access.
