Walmart has the 16GB Nexus 7 (2013) on sale for $199.99 instead of its usual $229.99 price tag.
When Google entered the tablet game with the original Nexus 7, it used the same principles it did when it began selling Nexus smartphones. The company offers consumers a device with top-of-the-line specs meant to showcase the company's latest version of Android, with pricing below similar competing devices.
This year's Nexus 7 took on even more enhancements found in Google's Nexus smartphones. The 7-inch tablet is one of the only slates on the market that ships with built-in wireless charging out of the box. You can either buy the official Google Nexus charger or one of many third-party chargers that support the Qi Wireless standard. The Nexus 7 also has a very high resolution of 1920 x 1200 on its 7-inch display, something that most 7-inch tablets in this price point rarely offer.
Buying a Nexus device also gives peace of mind in knowing that you're guaranteed Android updates whenever Google releases an update to its mobile OS, as the Nexus family is privileged.
The Nexus 7 features a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HD IPS scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display with a pixel density of 323 pixels per inch (ppi). The tablet ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but can be upgraded to the just-released Android 4.4.1 KitKat out of the box (just the LTE version for now). It is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 2GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user experience.
Its camera capabilities include a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Google has outfitted the Nexus 7 with stereo speakers with surround sound and Frauhofer audio technology. Its wireless connectivity options consist of dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The tablet also includes a microUSB port and a Slimport for 1080p HDMI output. The tablet has wireless charging capabilities out of the box and ships with a 3,950 mAh battery that lasts for up to 9 hours of active use, 9 hours of HD video playback, 10 hours of web browsing or e-reading, and 300 hours of standby time.
Walmart is offering the 16GB Nexus 7 for $199.99, which also includes free shipping, free site to store shipping, and the smartphone can also be purchased in its retail stores.
