Unannounced LG V510 points to rumored Nexus 8 tablet

A new report from a very reliable source claims that a tablet from LG with the model number V510 is "indeed" a Nexus device.

When Google entered the tablet market with its Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets, it covered its bases by offering consumers both a small and large tablet. The Nexus 7 was built by LG, while Google partnered with Samsung on the Nexus 10. The Nexus 7 received a refresh in July and was once again manufactured by LG, but Google still hasn't given the 10-inch Nexus 10 an update.

We might know why the Nexus 10 hasn't been released with updated hardware specifications. There were recent rumors that Google was working on a smaller tablet with an 8-inch screen, originating from an image of an unannounced tablet the company used on its Android promotional site. The tablet was larger than the Nexus 7, had tiny bezels, and was running Android 4.4 KitKat. When news began to spread, Google quickly replaced the image with a Nexus 7.

"The LG V510 is indeed a Nexus device. [via tip],"reads a new tweet from the always-reliable @evleaks. While the tipster didn't reveal any other information, the device's model number gives us a pretty good idea of what this upcoming Nexus is likely going to be.

LG recently released the LG G Pad 8.3, which features a full HD 8.3-inch display and a powerful 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor. The G Pad's model number is V500 and the new Nexus device's model number of V510 is likely a variant based on the G Pad 8.3. This wouldn't be the first time Google has used a device based on an existing LG device. The company's latest Nexus 5 is built by LG and is based off of LG's current flagship smartphone LG G2, and last year's Nexus 4 was based on an LG smartphone as well.

We'll have to file this in the rumor category for now, but taking into account evleaks' credibility and the unannounced device's V510 model number, things are looking more and more likely that Google will release an 8-inch Nexus in the near future.
