Netflix just publicly rolled out its first test of cloud streaming games in Canada and the UK.
Netflix Streams Games on TV, Computers
In a blog post, Netflix VP for games Mike Verdu shared the exciting news. Verdu confirmed that the company is now testing the waters on its new feature through a small number of members in Canada and the UK, but on select TVs for now.
"Our goal has always been to have a game for everyone, and we are working hard to meet members where they are with an accessible, smooth, and ubiquitous service," Verdu wrote.
In addition, Netflix will also be allowing games on PC and Macs by logging in Netflix.com. Streaming games on the computer would have to wait a few weeks for it to be released on supported browsers. As of its release, Oxenfree and Molehew's Mining Adventure are the first game titles to be released.
How to Play Netflix Games on TV, Computers
Previously, Netflix released an app that will serve as a game controller when playing games on TV. On the other hand, subscribers who wish to play games on their PCs and Macs can play using their keyboard and mouse.
Netflix explained that through this limited beta, the company will be able to test their game streaming technology and controller and improve it overtime before releasing it worldwide.
Netflix games will be supported on selected televisions such as Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG, NVIDIA Shield TV, Samsung Smart TVs, and Walmart ONN. The company also assured that more devices will be added soon.
