Starting August 18, Roblox will expand its User-Generated Content (UGC) Program by letting the members create and sell full avatar bodies and heads.
Roblox Expands Avatar Creation and Monetization
The company has decided to expand the UGC Program after seeing the success of creative outputs in the Roblox Marketplace. The new update will help creators to promote their creative works and gain profit from it.
Avatar is an important element in Roblox. The company firmly believed that the expansion will enable "more immersive communication" and "self-expression" within the gaming community. By allowing avatar creation, more skin tones, body sizes, hair colors, and such will be available according to your self-expression.
How to Create and Sell Avatars in Roblox
The created avatar heads and bodies must comply with Roblox community standards, marketplace policy, and technical requirements. For instance, the bodies must have "modesty layers built in" for safety. Bodies must include a head but heads can be uploaded separately. On the other hand, heads must have base head, eyebrows, and eyelashes.
Each part will have a minimum and maximum size requirement to ensure that it will fit and interact well on other bodies. Creators can upload up to 10 bodies and/or heads per day with no upload fee and no minimum price.
Roblox also listed some guides and tools that will help creators get started with their avatar creation journey. As of writing, the developers also announced that they are planning to add the abilities for the bodies and heads to be limited, to be sold by groups, and to be sold as a bundle with accessories and clothings.
