Wood is currently leading his own game development company called the Double Dagger Studio. In an interview with Engadget, Wood explained the backbone of his upcoming game.

For Little Kitty, Big City a cat is on a mission to find its way home while navigating the busy downtown. Cats are naturally curious and Wood made sure to integrate this personality. This allows Kitty to converse and engage with other animals and people around the town.

Within the game, Kitty must complete each quests while finding her way home. Kitty can also try various hat designs to wear, it could be in a fish head, half-shucked corn cob, little devil ears, and more. Wood also explained that while developers usually put equipments to give characters a boost, sometimes putting them for aesthetic and fun is enough purpose.

Wood's Career in Valve

"I've done a lot of things throughout my career, but one of the things I spent a lot of time doing was level design in video games, so I have a lot of personal interest in creating spaces that feel fun to explore, to sort of poke around in," Wood shared. For over 20 years, Wood has been designing action-packed games and first-person shooter games, such as CS:GO, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, and Portal 2.

Wood decided to leave Valve due to some differences and while he appreciated and attributed his success in Valve, he knew that it leaving was the right to do. "I love working with a small team focused on a game where, to us, it's different. To me, it's a challenge," he shared.

Little Kitty, Big City is set to arrive in 2024 for Switch and PC via Steam.
