Sprint announces Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark-ehanced 4G LTE

Sprint has announced that it will soon offer its customers an upgraded Samsung Galaxy S4 that can access its enhanced Spark 4G LTE network.

As more and more consumers begin to use smartphones, carriers are offering different services and features to make their network more attractive. Sprint announced in October that it would be adding a new high-speed enhanced 4G LTE network called Sprint Spark that would offer users data speeds capable of 50-60 Megabits per second (Mbps). The service launched in November and the carrier began offering select smartphones that are able to access the network, which include the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Mega, HTC One max, and LG G2.

If you live in an area where Sprint Spark is available (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tampa, and Miami currently) and are a fan of the Samsung Galaxy S4, you'll be happy to know that Sprint has added an upgraded version of the smartphone capable of accessing its Spark network. The specs of the smartphone will remain the same as the current Galaxy S4, but its modem will now be able to take advantage of the enhanced 4G LTE network. That new feature also comes at a price, as the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark will cost $199.99 compared to the regular non-Spark Galaxy S4 price of $99.99. If you have the need for speed, live in a supported area, and don't mind spending an extra $100 to access Sprint's network faster than the current Galaxy S4, the Sprint Spark Galaxy S4 is for you.

The Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark includes an upgraded modem to access the Sprint Spark network, a 5-inch, 1920 x 1080 full HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi), and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The handset is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM.

It includes 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards. The smartphone's camera capabilities include a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto flash, zero shutter lag and is able to record Full HD 1080p video at 30fps, and there is also a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Wireless connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n//ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The handset ships with a 2,600 mAh removable battery.

The carrier announced that will offer the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark in the next few weeks for $199.99 when signing a new 2-year contract.
