Amazon has cut the price of the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 to $49.99 when signing a new 2-year contract with the carrier.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 continues its reign as the top Android smartphone sold by all major U.S. carriers for the last three months. A survey conducted by Canaccord has revealed (via AllThingsD) that the Samsung Galaxy S4 joined the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c as one of the top three smartphones sold by AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile for the third straight month. The Galaxy S4 has been a favorite among Android users since its release and continues to be OS' top selling handset in the U.S.
A major reason why the Samsung Galaxy S4 continues to be so popular with consumers can be found in the unique and exclusive software features Samsung has included as a way to differentiate the Galaxy S4 from other Android smartphones. Air View allows a user to hover a finger over different content such as email, images, or video to get a preview of the contents without having to open it. Its Air Gesture feature uses gestures that are detected by the smartphone and enables users to control the music app, web pages, and phone calls with the wave of a hand. You can also scroll web pages and emails with Smart Scroll, which allows you to go up and down depending on the movement of your wrist.
The Galaxy S4 doesn't slump in the specs department either, as it comes with high-end specifications. The Galaxy S4 features a 5-inch, 1920 x 1080 full HD Super AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 3, with a high pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi). It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (can be updated to Android 4.3) and is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It includes 16GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards, and 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone sports a high-end 13-megapixel rear camera with auto flash, zero shutter lag and the ability to record Full HD 1080p video at 30fps, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n//ac, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE radio, infrared LED universal remote control, and a 2,600 mAh removable battery.
