Mercedes-Benz and BMW revealed their respective electric concept cars as part of their target to catch up with Tesla EVs.
Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA Class
Mercedes' concept was built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), which is a platform designed specifically for electric cars. The company also revealed that the range will be in four models: a four-door coupé, an estate, and two sports utility.
Mercedes boasted a car range of 760 kilometers (466 miles) on a single charge. On top of that, it claims that the battery can be driven within 400 kilometers after 15 minutes of charging.
In terms of interior, Mercedes is reportedly working on an operating system which will introduce a voice assistant feature for the dashboard. The plan for the MB.OS is to allow third-party apps to be integrated with the vehicle, making it convenient and accessible to users.
BMW Vision Neue Klasse
BMW is taking it to a new level by introducing its concept vehicle with a glass roof. According to BMW, the design is a symbol of the company's classic brand.
In terms of range, BMW is yet disclose more information about it. The company only assured that the charging speed of the Neue Klasse models will increase up to 30 percent. Likewise, the range will also be boosted by up to 30 percent.
For its interior, BMW introduced a Panoramic Vision display which will serve as an information widescreen for the driver. BMW is set to start the Neue Klasse production in 2025.
