Amazon has the Moto G in stock, now shipping both the 8GB and 16GB models

Amazon began taking pre-orders for the affordable and unlocked Moto G in early December and now the retailer is finally shipping the smartphone.

When Motorola officially launched the Moto X, the company only made the handset available to customers in the U.S. This decision left customers in other countries wondering when they would be able to get their hands on the customizable smartphone. Motorola later confirmed that the Moto X would remain a U.S. exclusive, but the company had a plan up its sleeve to offer a smartphone that had a similar design and also allowed users to customize it through the use of removable color back plates.

Motorola officially announced the unlocked and affordable Moto G in November and confirmed that the smartphone would be released worldwide and it would be priced well below similar unlocked smartphones. The company announced two models: an 8GB and 16GB option. The handset's specs and low price point have made it a very popular smartphone worldwide.

Amazon announced that it would begin taking pre-orders for the Moto G in early December and now the retailer is finally shipping the smartphone to customers who pre-ordered the device. Amazon currently has the unlocked 8GB and 16GB U.S. GSM models in stock and ready to ship, as well as the 8GB and 16GB Global GSM variants up for sale.

As a reminder, the Moto G features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD display with a pixel density of 329 pixels per inch (ppi). Motorola has chosen to use a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with MSM 8x26, Adreno 305 graphics processing unit (GPU), and 1GB of RAM. It uses a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 4x digital zoom, slow motion video, panorama, and tap-to-focus, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

Motorola is offering the Moto G in 8GB or 16GB of internal storage and 50GB of Google Drive storage for 2 years. The smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but Motorola has already announced that it will roll out an update to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat in January. As previously mentioned, the handset's wireless connectivity options consist of a 3G GSM radio, which will support AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The smartphone uses a 2,070 mah non-removable battery.

You can order the U.S. GSM or Global GSM Moto G from Amazon. The 8GB model costs $179.99 and the 16GB model costs $199.99 and include free two-day shipping.
