Fallout Shelter is a free-to-play mobile simulation version of the Fallout game series, developed by Bethesda Game Studios. During the game, the player takes on the role of the Vault Overseer.
Bundled up with the responsibility of building and managing your underground community, Vault-Tec shelter, it can be pretty overwhelming. Worry no more as here are some of the most important things you should remember to make the most out of Fallout Shelter:
Plan Your Vault-Tec Layout Ahead
In Fallout Shelter you will start from the scratch and will work your way down (yes, down) as you progress in the game. You try experimenting for your first two to three layers by mix and matching the rooms. After that, you can start building your own layout.
There's nothing to worry about as each rooms have their own description where their functions are listed. From then, you can formulate which rooms would be beneficial for you in the early game.
Strategize Your Expansion
The second tip is really just an extension of the first one. Do not be hasty and excited on buying many rooms at once regardless of how rich you are in caps. Take note that rooms consume basic necessities such as power, food, and water.
Be wise and know how to manage your people. Again, as the overseer your priority is to maintain the balance within your community. Unnecessary rooms can easily throw off the balance by consuming too much energy and such.
Study the Dweller's List
Early in the game, some will visit your vault asking to be adopter to your vault. You can either welcome them or kick them out. However, before doing that decision make sure to check their stats and see if they can be used on your advantage.
The dweller's list is the complete log sheet of your dwellers where you can track their level, SPECIAL, happiness, status, and job. By checking this regularly, you can easily see which of the dwellers are serving the community well.
Keep an Eye for the Mysterious Stranger
The Mysterious Strangers appears several time within the game. His appearance is accompanied by an ominous three-note sound effect which is easily noticeable. However, he can be hard to find most of the times.
Once you find the Mysterious Stranger before he vanishes, you can extra caps as many as 1000 caps.
Complete Quests
Like any other game, quests are important and must be completed. Quests can provide rewards that cannot be found on grinding inside the vault. You need to send your dwellers out to fight and hope that they have the right stats to complete the quests.
During quests, you can earn caps, bottles, and legendary items, which can boost your dwellers' well-being. Sometimes, there are event special quests that only appear during special occasions which brings rare rewards.
