In a PC Gamer report, some professional esports players voiced out their feedback on the launch of CS2. "It's not competitive-ready at all, I still rather play CS:GO. I have not yet played any competitive match on it, [and] there is a lot to improve on to make me feel like it's CS:GO," GL Prism player Héjja 'kezziwow' Kászandrá stated.

Starting September 28, players can now download the free to play CS2 on Steam. Valve also noted that returning players will still be familiar with their favorite maps and matchmaking modes. In addition, a revamped Premier mode awaits them.
