Spotify, the most-used audio podcast platform, is set to release new podcast tools and events in celebration of International Podcast Day on September 30.
New Spotify Podcast Tools
Spotify will launch its auto-generated and time-synced transcripts to more podcast creators. Based on the released preview, the transcript will look the same as the song lyrics that we are used to seeing in the platform. The transcript follows the show's flow making it easier to read and jump off to topics that you might find more interested in.
Just simple scroll down to the Now Playing View to use the transcript tool. According to Spotify, the feature will roll out to millions of episodes in the coming weeks. The audio giant also revealed that will be working on adding more media to the transcripts.
Aside from that, the Podcast Chapters tool will help mobile users which will allow the users to navigate freely by choosing the parts they would like to hear. Lastly, there will be some updates on the Podcast Show pages which will give more background and information about the podcast. Other tools such as the Creator Recommendations and More Like This will also be present.
Spotify Becomes Most-Used Audio Podcast Platform
Spotify reported that they have over 100 million regular podcast listeners which is a ten times more since 2019. Currently, the platform houses over 5 million shows. The podcasts are also available on more than 170 markets.
Apart from rolling out new podcast tools, a BLK Pod Festival will be happening in Atlanta to celebrate the International Podcast Day. Spotify for Podcasters' creative director Gavin Guidry will attend and talk about the power of podcasts in marginalized communities.
"We have a unique way of seeing the world, and it's always inspiring to see how other creators are putting their stamp on podcasting," Guidry shared.
