Activision Blizzard addressed anticipation for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Diablo IV, as well as its plans with Xbox Game Pass plans.
Activision Blizzard Awaits Deal Closure with Microsoft
In an X post, Activision Blizzard announced that they are still working on the approval of the Microsoft deal. The acquisition is set to end this week, October 13. The long pursuit of Microsoft to Activision Blizzard will be settled with a $69 billion buyout.
Microsoft is still waiting for approval from the U.K. After a long wait, the U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) gave provisional approval on the acquisition after a new deal was submitted. The final approval from the CMA should be anytime this week.
To put fans at ease during the long wait, Activision clarified that they do not have plans to put Modern Warfare III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year. Once the deal closes, the company will start working with Xbox to make their game titles available to more players.
2024 Might be a Big Year for Activision Blizzard, Microsoft
While the most anticipated game titles will not be making their debut this year on Xbox, Activision never said that it won't be available forever. Hence, fans are hoping that Activision will be working to bring both Modern Warfare III and Diablo IV to Xbox by 2024.
Once the deal closes, 2024 will be a big year for both Microsoft and Activision as the latter company will begin adding games to the Game Pass. In 2021, Microsoft took only two days to add Bethesda game titles to Xbox Game Pass after its successful acquisition of ZeniMax Media.
Hopefully, fans won't have to wait that much anymore by next year.
