K-pop and Gaming Community Come Together
This is not the first collaboration between a gaming company and a popular K-pop group. For years, several K-pop groups have made an appearance in games.
In 2018, Riot Games collaborated with (G)I-DLE members Miyeon and Soyeon as part of the K/DA. Their performance was used to promote the League of Legends World Championship. Meanwhile, PUBG Battlegrounds invited BlackPink and released various exclusive content as part of the partnership.
The collaboration between Overwatch 2 and Le Sserafim marked the game's first-ever in-game musical artist collaboration. "Like the heroes of Overwatch, the Le Sserafim members are amazing as individuals, but unstoppable when they come together," Overwatch general manager Walter Kong wrote.
