Samsung has officially announced its 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePro tablet at CES. The Galaxy NotePRO is the company's largest tablet and is focused on productivity.
As tablets continue to grow, more and more companies are adding features to stand out from rivals. Samsung has put an emphasis on display size and its S Pen stylus with its just announced 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePRO. The company took the wraps off of its largest tablet to date during its presentation at CES 2014.
The Galaxy NotePRO packs in a 12.2-inch display with a "super clear" WQXGA LCD panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a pixel density of 247 ppi. The tablet is running Android 4.4 KitKat along with Samsung's Magazine UX running on top to give users an enhanced experience with a focus on productivity. The NotePRO will be offered in a Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G LTE model, with the Wi-Fi and 3G variant being powered by an octa-core Exynos processor and the 4G LTE being powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset.
The NotePRO will come in two storage configurations, 32GB and 64GB, and also include a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards, and 3GB of RAM. It will be packing an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for video chat. Its wireless connectivity options consist of dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a.b.g.n.ac MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, IR sensor, 3G radio (3G model), and 4G LTE radio (4G model). Samsung will ship the Galaxy NotePRO with a large 9,600 mAh battery and S Pen with enhanced functionality. Its dimensions are 295.6 x 204 x 7.95mm and weighs 750g (Wi-Fi) or 753g (3G/4G LTE).
As previously mentioned, the Galaxy NotePRO has been designed with a focus on productivity and Samsung's Magazine UX allows the home screen to have three separate customizable panels for office/workspace, personal use and social networks and media. The Multi-Window feature takes advantage of the 12.2-inch display and allows up to four simultaneous tasks to be displayed on the screen. Samsung is also shipping the NotePro with Remote PC software to connect to your PC or Mac via the tablet.
Samsung has not announced pricing for the Galaxy NotePRO, but says the tablet will ship in the first quarter of the year.
