Vizio went all out at the CES 2014 trade show, displaying some of its latest TV products, including the impressive Vizio P-Series 4k TVs.
When it first announced its P-Series, the company failed to mention how much the new TVs would cost, but it did say that they would go for aggressive pricing. While some 4k TVs may cost a whopping $10,000 or more for their largest models, Vizio has now announced lower prices for its P-Series Ultra HD TV sets.
The new Vizio P-Series TVs come in multiple screen sizes with surprisingly reasonable prices compared to 4K TVs from other manufacturers. The 50-inch model comes in at just $999.99, while the 70-inch model tops at $2,599.99. The TVs share mainly the same features, including a backlight with 64 active LED zones, as well as advanced local dimming.
"Introducing the Ultra HD TV that sets a new standard for the state of art. Featuring best-in-class picture performance, screen sizes of up to 70 inches, stunning ultra-modern design and next-level Smart TV, P-Series brings a premium entertainment experience to life," boasts Vizio. "Ultra HD is no longer measured in mere pixels. With the all-new P-Series television, it's now redefined by the mastery of every detail and cutting-edge technologies that come together to deliver a picture of flawless clarity."
"As more content becomes available, we took a step back and designed our Ultra HD platform with the features and performance to last as the space expands," adds Matt McRae, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO, in the press release. "VIZIO's new P-Series collection contains a carefully developed assortment of new VIZIO innovations that dramatically improve picture quality and Smart TV features, culminating in a beautifully simple Ultra HD option for discerning viewers."
The new Vizio P-Series TVs support the HVEC codec for 4K content streaming. Moreover, all TVs in the P-Series use the Vizio V6 6-core processor that packs a quad-core graphics processing unit (GPU) and a dual-core CPU, allowing for "blazing speed on the inside."
The P-Series consists of five models of different sizes: 50 inches, 55 inches, 60 inches, 65 inches, and 70 inches. According to Vizio, the Active LED zones deliver superior and more uniform backlighting compared to traditional edge-lit LED backlit TVs, thus providing a better viewing experience.
The new P-Series Smart TVs also come with built-in dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO connectivity. The 50-inch model costs $999.99, the 55-inch one costs $1,399.99, the 60-inch TV goes up to $1,799.99, the 65-inch costs $2,199.99, while the largest 70-inch model comes with a $2,599.99 price tag.
