Apple officially unveiled the next generation M-series chips: M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Pro Max, all powered by 3-nanometer technology, next-generation GPU architecture, and up to 16-core faster Neural Engine, during the Scary Fast event.
Apple Sees M3 Series as Most Advanced Chips for Personal Computers
For starters, SVP for Hardware Engineer John Ternus introduced the future of Macbook Pro laptops powered by the M3 Family chips. The Macbook Pro 14-inch will be available in Space Gray, Silver, and Space Black while the MacBook Pro 16-inch will be available in Space Black and Silver only.
The 14-inch laptop with an M3 chip is the entry-level choice for everyone which can support one external display and has up to 22 hours of battery life. It is the perfect match for students, entrepreneurs, or creators. Daily productivity tasks and games are assured to be much faster on this laptop.
Meanwhile, the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro both come with an M3 Pro and M3 Pro Max variant which can support up to two or four external displays. However, it offers a lower battery life of only 18 hours for 14-inch and up to 22 hours for 16-inch. Regardless, tasks such as Photoshop or heavy-data applications are easily loaded thanks to these chips.
The 14-inch Pro with M3 chip starts from $1,599 to $1,799 while the M3 Pro chip ranges from $1,999 to $2,399 and the M3 Max with $3,199. Meanwhile, the 16-inch M3 Pro is priced at $2,499 to $2,899. The M3 Pro Max comes at $3,499 and $3,999.
Apple Introduces New Colors for M3-Powered iMac
Aside from the laptops, Apple also announced new seven colors for the iMac that come with the M3 chip. The M3-powered 11.5 mm displays now come in vibrant colors of green, yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, and silver.
Although the 24-inch iMac looks pretty similar to its predecessors, it all changes from the inside where it is powered by a faster and more efficient chip. It boasted a performance of up to two times faster than the M1 iMac and more than four times more powerful than the 21.5-inch iMac model.
When it comes to details it has a 4.5K Retina display making everything look ultraclear with 500 nits of brightness. It also offers a 1080p FaceTime HD camera for video conferences and has superior noise reduction and speakers.
The new iMac starts at $1,299 and can cost up to $1,699. Both devices are now available for pre-order with shipping starting on November 7.
