Stardew Valley creator, ConcernedApe or Eric Barone, confirmed that he will consider the franchise's movie adaptation if big names like David Lynch or Studio Ghibli are involved.
Stardew Valley's Continuous Success
Since its 2016 release, Stardew Valley has become a financial success with over 120 million copies sold so far. Currently, the sole game developer has been busy hinting at the upcoming update for the game and the progress of another game, Haunted Chocolatier.
Regardless of the busy schedule, Barone unveiled the first-ever Stardew Valley Concert Tour which will start from North America to Europe and eventually Asia and Australia. Many fans were quick to express their excitement at the surprise event, further proving how huge is the game's success years after its launch.
In a recent interview with IGN, Barone admitted that he is very careful and protective of the Stardew Valley brand. He also cited that due to this it is a delight for fans to see the franchise expand to other media once in a while like the concert or the board game.
"If Studio Ghibli approached me, I would probably say okay, let's do it," Barone shared. "If David Lynch approached me and wanted to make a Stardew Valley movie, I would say go ahead, just do it," he added and emphasized that he has to be very closely involved with the production if ever.
Video Games Turned Movies Trend
There are various successful video games that have been adapted into a movie. For instance, the recent "Super Mario Bros. The Movie" proved how significant Super Mario has been for decades and how its popularity never faded. There are also films like "Detective Pikachu" and "Gran Turismo" which are both based on their respective titular games.
Although it might seem far from now to happen or if it will ever happen, fans of Stardew Valley are fairly happy with bits of expansion every once in a while. After all, what makes the game so alluring for many is that Barone was able to and is still making the game all on his own.
