Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo leaks with hexa-core processor, Super AMOLED display and more

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite will officially be called Galaxy Note 3 Neo and will feature a 5.55-inch Super AMOLED display, hexa-core processor, and more.

Samsung has been rumored for months to be working on what has been described as a budget Galaxy Note 3. It's a classic Samsung move to release a watered down version of one of its flagship devices and instantly create a series of devices. The tech community has been referring to this less expensive phablet as the Galaxy Note 3 Lite, but newly leaked-documents reveal the phablet's official name along with the complete spec list.

According to a new report from GSM Arena, who came across a Samsung internal product-positioning document, the Note 3 Lite will take on the name Galaxy Note 3 Neo when it's officially announced. Much like the iPhone 5c was a repackaged iPhone 5, the Note 3 Neo appears to be a refreshed Galaxy Note 2. It includes many of the same specs of the Note 2, such as its 5.55-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot to further increase its storage.

Where the Galaxy Note 3 Neo differs from the Note 2 is where things get interesting. In the product-positioning documents, Samsung boasts that the device will be powered by the industry's first hexa-core processor. It will use two 1.7GHz cores and four 1.3GHz cores and is believed to reduce the overall cost of the Note 3 Neo while still offering exceptional performance and power savings.

The documents list the Galaxy Note 3 Neo as shipping with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box (no mention of KitKat). According to the listing, the phablet will also have some of the popular features found in the flagship Galaxy Note 3, including its Magazine UX, Advanced Multi Window, Air Command and Air Gestures. The Note 3 Neo will also adopt some design inspiration from the Note 3 by using the same faux leather back the company debuted with the flagship phablet and has since started using on its latest Galaxy Note tablets.

The documents don't reveal a launch date or pricing but you can expect it to be less expensive than the Galaxy Note 3 and next month's Mobile World Congress (MWC) could set the stage for its unveiling.
