The Verizon variant of Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition has made its way through the FCC for certification to run on its 4G LTE network.
In a recent interview, Samsung confirmed that it was going to put more of its resources and focus into further expanding its Galaxy tablet line in 2014. The company is not wasting any time with its new goal and has already unveiled new Galaxy NotePRO and Galaxy TabPRO slates at this year's CES, which top out with display sizes of 12.2-inches. These models are believed to be a response to rumors of an Apple iPad Pro 12-inch tablet, which has been tipped to be released later this year.
Samsung has already seen sales of its 10.1-inch tablets grow thanks to the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition launched late last year, which uses its S Pen stylus to differentiate itself from rivals. It looks like Verizon customers will soon be able to get their hands on the slate thanks to a just discovered FCC filing. The Verizon Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is listed with the model number SM-P605V and is compatible with the carrier's LTE bands of 4 and 13.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition features a 10.1-inch Super Clear LCD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a pixel density of 299 pixels per inch (ppi). The tablet ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, although an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade is rumored to be in the works. It's powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 3GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user experience.
Its camera capabilities include an 8-megapixel rear camera that can record 1080p Full HD video and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter for video chat. The Galaxy Note 10.1 is available with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), GPS, NFC, and IR blaster to be used with its included WatchOn program guide. Samsung ships the tablet with a large 8,220 mAh battery and S Pen with enhanced functionality.
There's no word on when Verizon will make the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition available to customers, but with Samsung's new focus on growing its tablet line, the wait shouldn't be too long. We'll be sure to keep you up to date as soon as we have more information.
