Quarterly profits numbered at $1.74 billion with revenue decline and operation incomes from Entertainment and Financial Services sectors.

The Japanese tech giant said the sales did not reach the same peak during last year's holidays, but 1.6 million higher during the same period in 2022.

The reason was Sony trying to keep up with the ever-increasing demand of its products while resources only get scarcer and pricier.

Sony President Hiroki Totoki said that the North American has seen a "significant year-on-year decline" that the company aims for a recovery in the next fiscal year.

PS5 Shortage Reasons and Effects to the Gaming Industry

The main cause of the low supply of PS5 was shortage in semiconductor chips, an essential piece to the console's processors, during the pandemic.

Earlier this year, Sony assured that the shortage has finally ceded and that the company will start to be able to distribute larger amounts of PS5s worldwide.

Sony aims to ship 25 more consoles before the end of the year in anticipation of an $82.1 billion operation income for the holiday season. Video game, music, and imaging solution sectors are expected to show strong sales figures in the last quarter.

Where to Get PS5 Consoles in 2023

While the demand for PS5s remain high while the supply seems to only go lower, there is still some ways to buy the coveted console at this time of the year.

IGN recently revealed a Black Friday sale for the PS5 console along with the latest gaming hit Spider-Man 2 as a bundle for $499.99 only.

There is also the much cheaper digital version alternative digital version for $399.99. The only downside is that the digital version does not have an attached UHD Blu-Ray drive and does not accept physical copies of the games.

If the budget is still low, try to lookout for people trading their consoles on online market. Just be careful of scalpers and potential scammers when buying secondhand devices.
