The White House launched a new Threads account for US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in time for the president's birthday.
Biden's first post is reminiscent of his 2020 victory speech about the country's division and current "infliction point." The president immediately gained 2 million followers after posting.
The White House also debuted its own Threads account, reposting Biden with the caption "The wait is Joe-ver."
Other notable members of the executive branch also joined Meta's social media, including first lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff.
The White House's debut on Threads coincides with controversies on Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter), although the White House said the accounts had been planned weeks ahead.
White House Spokesperson Robyn Patterson said the move is part of the government's commitment to "meeting people where they are."
The White House previously condemned Musk's endorsement of a "hideous" anti-Semitic conspiracy on X that "runs against our core values as Americans."
Pro-Nazi and Anti-Semitic Content on X
Musk and his platform have been under fire over the past few days for the rampant spread of Nazism and anti-Semitism on the site.
Several major brands have already paused their ad campaigns on X after their ads appeared next to pro-Nazi posts.
Other accounts, like Disney, have frozen their accounts on the platform following the controversy.
Several other notable figures have also announced their departure from X, stating plans to move to its rival social network, Threads.
Musk has since filed a lawsuit against Media Matters, the group that first published the report, for a "potential fraudulent activity."
