The entire drama within OpenAI was not enough to keep it from releasing a new feature for its chatbot. Even before the issue had been resolved, the company released ChatGPT with Voice, which sounds exactly as advertised.
ChatGPT with Voice
The feature has already been available to ChatGPT's subscribers since September, but it's only now that the voice function is available to free users. However, only select users have access to ChatGPT with Voice as others claim they don't have the feature yet.
It will likely arrive on all devices soon enough as the function is slowly being rolled out. Once you get it, you'll find a headphone icon on the ChatGPT app. Upon pressing that button, you'll have the ability to converse with the chatbot.
It's still different from the usual virtual assistants from Apple, Google, and Amazon given that it cannot do tasks for you like schedule a meeting or call a contact. But, it does retain its generative AI abilities, as per Ars Technica.
The non-AI voice assistants also have limitations that only an AI voice chatbot can do, such as generate a story based on the specifications you provide. With standard voice assistants, asking a question means that you'll get links for answers, while ChatGPT with Voice will give the direct answer.
A voice assistant like this could definitely change the game in terms of virtual assistance. It can be used for workspaces, allowing for streamlined results and multitasking since all you need to do is speak to the chatbot as opposed to typing your prompts.
With the new release, rivals will need to catch up. So far, Google Bard hasn't seen major improvements recently, although other competitors are stepping their game up. Anthropic, for instance, just released a new version of its chatbot.

Anthropic's Claude 2.1
Anthropic, a company started by former OpenAI engineers, has announced that its Claude chatbot can now offer up to 200,000 tokens for Pro customers, which is more than twice its numbers before and is equivalent to over 500 pages of material, as per the company.
With those numbers, Anthropic has exceeded even the leading chatbot's token limit, with OpenAI GPT-4 only being able to provide a 32,000 limit for its priciest model. Claude 2.1 is already being used for the claude.ai chat experience, as per The Verge.
The company is also launching its new beta tool use feature. This can be used to connect API tools for a more personalized experience with the chatbot. With this new upgrade, Claude 2.1 is capable of detecting which tool will be best used for the task.
Anthropic will soon have the resources to improve its AI services and tools even more as Amazon plans to invest in the startup. Reports say that the retail giant's investment can go up to $4 billion, as per Reuters, which is a pretty significant number.
In exchange, Amazon employees and cloud customers will get early access to the advancements of the startup which will be used within Amazon's business. The retail company claims that the investment only entitles them to a minority position.
