Video conferencing app Zoom stealthily released its app on Apple TV 4K, allowing users to conduct meetings through their television with an iPhone or iPad.
Zoom for Apple TV
Earlier this year, Apple rolled out the tvOS 17 which comes with FaceTime support for the Apple TV 4K. Alongside it, Zoom and Webex apps were promised to be released sometime this year.
In an X post, Sigmund Judge revealed his discovery that Apple TV's App Store has a listing called "Zoom - for Home TV". AppleInsider also confirmed the existence of the listing.
One of the key features for the Apple TV app is the ability to start and join Zoom meetings with just a click from the iPhone or iPad device. It also promises high-definition quality for audio and video, calendar integration, breakout room creation, and more.
How to Use Zoom for Apple TV
The Verge team tried the app for the first time and detailed that logging in is pretty much the same as signing into third-party video streaming apps. Users can either join through the URL on their devices, by entering a code, or by typing the credentials on screen.
After that, Zoom will prompt a connection to your device. If the Apple TV detects multiple nearby devices, it will show the list of all the devices and will let the users pick the one they will use for the meeting. A notification will pop on the iPhone or iPad and the meeting is ready to start.
The app will be available on second-generation or later versions of Apple TV 4K and will rely on the Continuity Camera feature of the iPhone or iPad that it will connect to.
