If you spend most of your time on your PC, you probably have your own setup and are contemplating on which accessories to buy. Building or buying a PC is already expensive enough as it is, so you can do without a couple of accessories that don't have uses. Here are some you can skip.
1. RGB-Lit Mouse Pads
Having the right mousepad can improve your productivity and gaming since it affects performance and accuracy. You can even get ones with wrist support if you spend hours using your computer to prevent certain injuries.
What you don't need is a mouse pad that has RGB lighting. It won't affect the performance at all, and it will be much harder to clean your mouse pads since you have to mind the electronic part of it. Plus, if you already have an RGB-lit PC tower, the mouse pad might be over the top.
2. LED Strips
This one, like the mouse pads that light up, is a matter of preference, but you could absolutely live without it. Sure, it could make your setup look cooler, but they will only take up outlet or USB ports and would even add to your electricity bill over time (just a little though).
Most LED strips come with sticker backings, and when you attach those to your electronics like behind your monitor, it might leave behind tape residue. If you plan on selling your electronics when you upgrade, the residue will definitely drive the price down.
3. Headset Stand
When you're using a headset, there are always places you can stash it to avoid damaging it when not in use. You don't need a headset stand for that. You'll be better off with a simple hook that you can attach to your table.
Besides, headset stands tend to cost more, especially if they are RGB-lit as well. It will also take up space on your table, which can be a problem if you already have limited surface space to begin with. It's more practical to install a hook under your desk.
4. Larger USB Hubs
If your PC doesn't have enough ports to connect all your devices, you can always purchase a USB hub that can be connected to your PC tower. There are a lot of types out there that you can choose from, but you shouldn't be fooled by the flashiness of some.
In fact, you should just buy a USB hub that will accommodate your needs, and maybe two extra ports just in case. You don't really need the expensive models that come with LCD displays or individual switches since you can disconnect them through your computer.
5. Gaming Chairs
This cannot be stressed enough, but you don't need a gaming chair even if you are a PC gamer. They look good, but ergonomic chairs are better for you. Gaming chairs can be more expensive, depending on the brand.
With ergonomic chairs, you'll have control over more features like lumbar support, headrest, armrest, chair height, and so on. Most models also use mesh or fabric which means they are more breathable, which can be useful in hotter weather.
