Letterboxd's Cinema Showtime Feature

Starting today, Patron members from the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia will have the chance to beta test the new cinema showtime feature. Under this new perk, members can see where films are currently playing in their nearby theaters.

According to the company, the collaboration was made possible with Assemble, which was able to provide real-time information on film screenings for the next seven days.

"In the US alone, Assemble indexes approximately 9,000 screens, with cinemas encouraged to opt in to share their showtimes, whether they be repertory screenings at art house cinemas, or new multiplex releases," Letterboxd shared.

The feature will be the perfect combination alongside the JustWatch integration, which was first introduced in 2019, for streaming and on-demand services. The company also emphasized promoting the local movie houses for them to continue to survive and thrive.

How to Use Letterboxd's Cinema Feature

Patron members that are within the mentioned regions are instructed to head to a film's Letterboxd page. Any screenings that will happen next week in a nearby cinema will be visible in the Where to Watch panel. Members will be directed to the Showtimes + Tickets link wherein they can schedule their film viewing.

The film review platform also announced that the new feature will be available to all members in the included regions by Christmas Eve. As for other countries, the company revealed that they do not have a schedule for it yet.

On the other hand, Letterboxd promised that they would roll out the feature once the data becomes available through their partner. For now, the company provided a list of included local cinemas that users can follow for screening updates.
