"One Piece" and Netflix are bound for another adventure as the streaming giant announced a new anime adaptation for the franchise.
New 'One Piece' Adaptation Starts on East Blue Saga
The new anime series is called "The One Piece" which will re-tell the beloved pirate adventure starting with the iconic East Blue saga. The series was announced during the Jump Fest 2024, in front of the global anime community.
In a blog post, Netflix revealed that "The One Piece" is already in production and will be streamed worldwide exclusively on the platform. The production committee is composed of representatives from Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co.
"With "THE ONE PIECE", the committee aims to provide viewers with a fresh yet familiar experience, utilizing cutting-edge visual technology to reimagine Luffy's adventures through the beloved East Blue saga," Netflix wrote.
'One Piece' Remains Strong After 26 Years
Last July, the "One Piece" franchise celebrated its 26th anniversary. Written and created by Eiichiro Oda, the original manga series has already sold over 510 million copies worldwide.
In August, fans raved about the release of "One Piece" live-action series. Fans were happy with how the live-action turned out, citing that it remained true to the original series and met their expectations.
Meanwhile, another manga by Oda will be streaming on Netflix this January. The "Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation" follows the story of samurai Ryuma as he tries to prevent the dragon from destroying the land.
