Tesla drivers in the US have been involved in more accidents in the past year than any other brands, according to a new study by LendingTree.
Tesla owners are found to be more prone to accidents, recording 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
The electric car brand drives in second place for the overall most driving incidents.
LendingTree analyzed over 30 automotive brands in the US from November 2022 to November 2023.
Data from the research were derived from quotes from people seeking to insure their cars. Rental car incidents were not included in the study.
Ram Has the Worst Drivers Across 23 States - LendingTree
While Tesla drivers have the highest accident rate, Ram owners beat out all other car brands for having the "worst drivers in 23 states."
LendingTree study noted that Ram drivers have been reported to be involved in 32.90 driving incidents per 1,000 drivers. Incidents include car accidents, driving under the influence, speeding, and citations.
The numbers are much worse in Massachusetts with 64.44 incidents per 1,000 drivers.
Other notable data comes in with Mercury and BMW.
BMW drivers have recorded the highest number of reported DUIs, while Mercury owners were dubbed as "best drivers in the year." Pontiac and Saturn follow close after.
Growing Car Accidents in the US
The LendingTree study was published following Tesla's announcement to recall over 2 million EVs due to autopilot issue.
Autopiloting cars have received much criticism this year for malfunctioning in the middle of the road, causing several deaths and injuries.
The recently released Cybertruck has also raised concerns to many people for various safety issues the behemoth can cause to smaller cars and pedestrians.
