Apple CarPlay Overhauls Design

During the Worldwide Developers Conference in 2022, Apple introduced the next generation of CarPlay. Huge automakers such as Porsche and Aston Martin were the first ones to support it.

9to5Mac reported that the new CarPlay will feature an overhauled interface such as a split-screen design that can show multiple apps at the same time. Moreover, a dock is placed at the bottom to serve as quick access to recently used apps.

"CarPlay has fundamentally changed the way people interact with their vehicles, and the next generation of CarPlay goes even further by deeply integrating with a car's hardware," Apple explained.

Apple CarPlay on Cars

Apple has previously released different mock-ups for the new design wherein one large display will stretch from behind the steering wheel up until the passenger side. When it comes to its interface, multiple apps will be shown depending on where you sit.

For instance, the driver's side of the screen will show the necessary details for driving such as the speed, map direction, and more. Meanwhile, the passenger side focuses more on providing entertainment in the car such as playing music and more.

Fret not as users can personalize the design and layout based on their driving experience. Apple confirmed that it could be customized to traditional and modern.

Several automakers have already signed up to support the new CarPlay but Porsche and Aston Martin are committed to launching their cars with this function within 2024.
