In partnership with software developer Siemens, the tech giant unveiled the mix-reality headset during its keynote at the CES 2024.

The headset features top-of-the-line technology with the latest Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor and 4K OLED Microdisplays.

Sony also equipped the headset with video see-through functionality, six cameras and sensors for spatial recognition, and a ring controller to "intuitively manipulate objects in virtual space."

Aside from official statements from both companies, there is not much known about Sony's new flagship project.

Siemens further divulged more details about the teased headset with its press release, describing the device as part of its plan to enable "industrial metaverse."

According to Siemens CEO Roland Busch, the headset will help provide an "immersive space where people and AI can collaborate in real-time to solve real-world problems."

Bush pitched the device as a tool that businesses can use for manufacturing and business processes. Previous Sony VR devices were more focused on entertainment and content creation.

Sony also dubbed its new headset as a "solution to spatial content creation."

The headset is an upgrade to Sony's "Spatial Reality Display" and is expected to rival the Apple Vision Pro. The spatial headset is expected to come out "later in 2024."

Sony CES 2024: Shows, Gadgets, and Tech Exhibits

Aside from the new VR headset, Sony took it to the stage to announce a bunch of updates for some of its PlayStation titles.

First is the confirmation of a God of War live-adaptation with Amazon Prime. The live adaptation for Horizon Zero Dawn has already started and is coming to Netflix soon.

However, the star of the planned adaptations was Gravity Rush in which Sony seems to be confident that it even showed a quick glimpse of the motion-capture production.

The announcement came after its rival Nintendo confirmed that a live adaptation for Legend of Zelda is already under production.

Elsewhere, Sony also revealed new looks to its Afeela EV, now able to be driven and controlled via a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.

Sony has partnered with Microsoft to provide the AI system to the EV. Unreal Engine will also be used to simulate environments using the car's multi-camera assistance system.

The Afeela EV was first revealed three CES conventions ago.
