U.S. Cellular has announced that it is now offering the no-contract Moto G for $99.99.
Motorola will soon become part of Lenovo being owned by Google, who acquired the smartphone maker in 2012 for $12.5 billion and sold the company at a loss to Lenovo for $2.91 billion. If there's one thing Motorola has been able to maintain through its troubles over the last few years it's that the company builds solid smartphones regardless of owner. This year saw the introduction of the customizable Moto x, Verizon's popular DROID family, and its latest smartphone, the Moto G.
The Moto G was designed to bring some of the highlights of the Moto X to an impressively capable smartphone that was also inexpensive. It brings features such as a 4.5-inch HD display, a quad-core processor, and Android 4.4 KitKat to a device that can be picked up for under a hundred bucks.
U.S. Cellular has announced that it is now offering the Moto G for $99.99 after instant rebate. The smartphone is available through the carrier's "No Contract" plan, which includes unlimited voice, messaging, and data for $50 per month.
As a reminder, the Moto G features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD display with a pixel density of 329 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone is powered by a snappy 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with MSM 8x26, Adreno 305 graphics and 1GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. The Moto G ships with 8GB of internal storage and also includes 50GB of cloud space through Google Drive for two years.
The smartphone's camera capabilities include a 5-megapixel rear camera with 4x digital zoom, panorama, and slow motion video. The Moto G ships with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. In terms of wireless connectivity you'll find a 3G radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. Motorola ships the Moto G with a 2,070 mAh non-removable battery. The Moto G can be customized through the use of removable shells that are available in a variety of colors and different designs.
