A new report from the Korean media claims that Samsung will beat Apple to market by launching the Galaxy S5 with a bezel-free display before the iPhone 6 debuts.
Apple beat Samsung by launching the iPhone 5s with a fingerprint scanner called TouchID, which made it super simple to keep your smartphone and iTunes purchases secure with the use of your fingerprint. Samsung is expected to officially announce its flagship Galaxy S5 later this month at an Unpacked 5 event the company is holding during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. A new report claims that Samsung will beat Apple to the punch and launch the Galaxy S5 with a bezel-free display and also bring a fingerprint scanner that's embedded into the screen.
A new report from The Korea Herald says that Samsung and Apple will both roll out bezel-free smartphones that support fingerprint scanning in their next-generation Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 smartphones, respectively, and both devices will also feature bezel-free displays. As previously mentioned, Samsung will be first to bring its flagship into customer's hands if this report is true, as it is widely expected to unveil the Galaxy S5 at an Unpacked event on Feb. 24 to kick of Mobile World Congress.
There have been multiple reports regarding what Samsung might pack into the Galaxy S5. Some claim the company will launch two devices - one would be a lower-end Galaxy S5 'Standard' and the other would come as a 'Prime' high-end smartphone packing in a very high resolution display of 2560 x 1440. The latter would most likely be the bezel-free model in Samsung's flagship smartphone lineup.
The Korean publication also claims that Samsung will bring a very useful feature to the Galaxy S5 that Apple and many others have not been able to offer. The display of the Galaxy S5 will reportedly allow users to activate and operate the screen while wearing gloves. This feature is already found in many of Nokia's Lumia Windows Phone smartphones and it's very popular.
Of course, we'll have to file this report in the rumor category for now, but we don't have too much of a wait before we get the full scoop on the Galaxy S5 straight from Samsung's mouth.
