Microsoft Mesh Supports Hybrid Work

Microsoft is all about promoting hybrid working. Mesh is a Teams feature that will allow employees to gather using their avatars in the same place using a virtual meeting spot.

Microsoft Mesh was tested out on Takeda, Accenture, bp, and Mercy Ships. The feature was designed to boost relationship building for remote and hybrid organizations.

"Mesh in Teams elevates engagement in Teams meetings with ready-made 3D immersive spaces crafted to suit your needs, whether it's a team social gathering, brainstorming session, or a round-table discussion," the company announced.

How Microsoft Mesh Works

Employees will design an avatar to represent themselves and be used during virtual meetings. Teams can organize small group discussions with spatial audio to mimic real-life conversations.

To use Mesh in Teams, simply select the "immersive space (3D) option from the View menu. Companies can also customize their immersive experiences in Mesh.

For instance, Accenture utilizes the feature by expanding its digital campus One Accenture Park. It is used to onboard and train new employees globally.

Organizations with existing Microsoft business plans are offered with free six-month trial which includes larger immersive experiences, no-code editor, and Mesh toolkit.
