HTC M8 shows off its shiny metal jacket ahead of MWC 2014 (Video)

A new image of the HTC M8 has just leaked and it gives us a clear look at its final new shiny aluminum design ahead of MWC 2014.

When Apple introduced the iPhone 5s last September, the company was wise to introduce new color options for a device that was nearly identical in design to its predecessor iPhone 5. The company tweaked its usual black and white pair with a trio of new colors. The new colors also let others know you were rocking the new flagship iPhone 5s and not last year's model. The iPhone 5s is available in three color options, Space Gray, Silver, and Gold. HTC's upcoming flagship features an almost identical design to the current flagship HTC One, but newly leaked images show the company tweaked its color to make it stand apart from its predecessor.

HTC Family posted new images of the HTC M8 ahead of its unveiling at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 in Barcelona later this month. As you can see from the image, the M8 looks very much like the HTC One, except it now has a shiny aluminum case instead of the more matte aluminum on the HTC One. The same source also provided a video, as you can see below, with some the handset's reported specs and features, but the phone in the video has a matte aluminum HTC One-like case.

The HTC M8 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display and run Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and according to this latest leak it will ship with HTC Sense 6. The video also says the M8 will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 2GB of RAM to provide a snappy user experience. It will have an aluminum unibody case and HTC BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers.

The smartphone will ship with dual UltraPixel rear cameras with dual LED True Tone Flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera for video chat and selfies. Expect to see the HTC M8 offered in 16GB and 32GB of internal storage and possibly a microSD expansion slot. Recent reports have also suggested the smartphone could ship with a large 2,900 mAh non-removable battery.

HTC will announce the HTC M8 at Mobile World Congress later this month and you can count on us to bring you all the latest MWC news.
