Rumors about the next-generation Nintendo Switch have been circulating for a while now, and fans of the handheld cannot wait to get one for themselves. With the launch date speculated to be in 2024, Nintendo might be releasing 10 million units in the first year of the Switch 2's release.
10 Million Switch 2 Units
It's likely that you won't face any troubles in acquiring a Nintendo Switch 2 for yourself when the release date comes as the company intends to release millions within the first year. This is based on the supply chain forecasts reported by Bloomberg's Takashi Mochizuki.
With over 10 million units, it's still unclear what the time frame will be since the release will be spread out across the fiscal year. While the release date is yet to be determined, Nintendo's fiscal year ends in March 2025, as reported by Kotaku.
Assuming that the Nintendo Switch successor will be released in the latter half of 2024, specifically in November, then there's plenty to go around in the span of four months. If it is released early in July, however, 10 million units might not be enough supply for eight months.
This is certainly a nice change of pace in console availability, considering the scarcity during the PS5's first year of release. It was due to the shortage in semiconductor ships globally which was caused by the pandemic.
The supply has since been fixed, but it took Sony three years before it happened. Despite that, Sony managed to sell around 15 million units in its first year, as per Comicbook, which makes it one of the best-selling consoles in the recent market.

What to Expect?
There are already a lot of rumors regarding the specs of the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor, and while some are good news, there are features that potential buyers might be disappointed about.
For one, the screen will be seeing a downgrade as it will no longer have the OLED screen that its predecessor has. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be equipped with an 8-inch LED screen, which could largely affect the quality of the display in games.
The good news is that it will be more powerful than the first model. Tom's Guide reports that the Switch 2 will feature an eight-core Cortex-A78AE processor, 10 streaming multiprocessors, 8 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of eMMC storage.
With these specifications, it's possible that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be on the same level or close to the power of the PS4, making it easier to run AAA games. With that said, it will still not have the same power as the recently released consoles.
Not to worry since there are rumors that Nintendo will also release a Switch 2 Pro version, which will have 12 GB of RAM instead of 8 GB, and 12 SMs instead of 10. Of course, these are all just rumors, and one must take it with a grain of salt to avoid being disappointed when the time comes.
