Elmo has finally responded after the "Sesame Street" character gets trauma-dumped on one of their wellness post on X (formerly Twitter). And it is all about love.

The lovable red muppet expressed his appreciation to the people that shared their worries and problems with him, stating that "it is important to ask a friend how they are doing."

"Elmo loves you," he added. The post was a response to an earlier upload on the account where Elmo asked his followers "How is everybody doing?"

The comment section and quotes immediately got flooded with people sharing their current thoughts, many of which contain grim outlooks on life or existential dread.

In thanks, several users jokingly answered that only Elmo is asking how is everyone but no one wanted to know how he is.

Elmo Post Highlights Worrying Mental Health of Social Media Users

While the responses might be humorous at the surface, the internet's reaction underscores the growing mental health crisis online.

Sesame Workshop executive vice president Samantha Maltin even emphasized the need for ""free, easy-to-access mental health resources" after how a simple question resonated with many.

Despite the huge funding the US government allocated to mental health, as high as 50% of young Americans are diagnosed with mental illness in 2023.

It did not help that remedies for the issue remain out of reach for many as medications are unaffordable to the common population.

Mental health services in the US also remain inefficient, further limiting people's access to professional help.

Internet Trauma-Dumping has Become a Trend

This was not the first time a post gained traction after the internet flooded it with trauma dumps and existential crises.

Just a few months ago, a TikTok video of a girl talking about pesto sauce became widely recognizable after users stitched the post to share their wildest secrets and traumas.

The whole phenomenon sparked because the original poster, Susi, said "Call me crazy" and the internet took it as a challenge to outdo her claims about store-bought pesto.
