Sony is Set to Release Several Third-Party Game Exclusives This Fiscal Year

PS5 owners were disappointed with the announcement from Sony stating that the console was at the "latter stage of its life cycle," but fret not, since the gaming entertainment giant is not done with the current-gen console just yet with upcoming video game titles.

Upcoming Games for the Fiscal Year

The bad news is that Sony has no plans to release first-party exclusive games for the fiscal year. The good news is that Sony is not the only developer that creates exclusives for its console, and third-party developers have a lot of video game titles slated for the year.

In fact, there will be three releases for three consecutive months that PS5 owners can expect. Starting from this February to April, players can expect titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on February 29th, Rise of the Ronin on March 22nd, and Stellar Blade on April 26th.

That's not all. There are a couple more releases in the succeeding months, as well as titles that are yet to have a release window or date. For instance, the sequel Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is already slated to be released in 2025, as per Game Rant.

Players can also expect Marvel's Wolverine as it has already been confirmed, although there are still no announcements regarding its timetable. Until now, there is little known about the game, except for the fact that Insomniac is focusing on it now that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been released.

Although Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is so close to release, players can still experience the game early on as there is an available demo of the game. As for the one planned for March, the premise for Rise of the Ronin has already been announced.

It will be an open-world RPG game set in 19th-century Japan developed by the developers behind Nioh, Team Ninja. It could feel familiar to players as the game has already been compared to another PlayStation exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima.

Stellar Blade, on the other hand, is a sci-fi game that was announced back in the 2021 PlayStation Showcase. It will follow the protagonist, Eve, as she battles aliens who are invading Earth, and will meet a fellow survivor called Adam.

Are the Games Worth Purchasing the Console?

If you're wondering whether you should buy the current-gen console now to play these games instead of waiting for the rumored PS5 Pro, then yes, you should. These games will run fine on the PS5, especially since they are exclusively created for the console.

Although the PS5 Pro is rumored to have a late 2024 release date, it's still unclear what kind of upgrade players will be getting with the upcoming model. It's important to note that all the specs and details are still just rumors, and Sony has yet to make an official announcement.

The three mentioned games that are set to be released will surely arrive long before the next-gen console, so it all boils down to whether you're able to wait or if you want to play now. Of course, you can always just sell your old console and buy the PS5 Pro once it does arrive.
