Xbox Cloud Gaming in 2024

In 2019, Xbox announced its plan for a cloud gaming feature that will allow users to stream their games from Game Pass titles and Xbox games that are already owned or will be purchased starting in 2020.

A year after its announcement, xCloud was announced but it was opened for limited users only, especially those who own the Game Pass library. Later on, the feature was expanded to Fortnite.

Spencer did not elaborate on any other details about its launch. However, some are speculating that streaming using the Xbox Cloud Gaming would still require users to purchase an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

Microsoft's Success on Xbox Game Pass

Recently, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox Game Pass service has accumulated 34 million subscribers. The numbers went up by 36% from the 25 million users that were reported two years ago.

Meanwhile, Spencer acknowledged the slow growth of the Xbox Game Pass for consoles. "We're seeing incredible growth on PC ... On console, I've seen growth slow down, mainly because at some point you've reached everybody on console that wants to subscribe."

Microsoft previously shared its goal to have 100 million Xbox Game Pass subscribers by 2030. For now, the company has been planning and hinting at the future development both for its hardware and game titles.
