Google has acknowledged that some issues are marring the Nexus 5 experience for some users and promised to patch things up with an upcoming maintenance update.
The Nexus 5 is one of the most highly-regarded smartphones out there, as it packs high-end specs and features and comes with the much-touted Nexus experience, which guarantees timely updates as soon as Google releases a new version of Android. It served as the launch vehicle for the new Android 4.4 KitKat, but some users have complained about a few issues after the latest firmware update.
While most Nexus 5 users are happy with their devices, many owners of the smartphone aren't very pleased with the handset's performance after the recent Android 4.4.2 update. Many complain about photo quality, as well as a dreaded camera bug that affected many users, causing the handset to overheat and the battery to drain while the camera app is in use.
Google has now acknowledged that there is indeed a bug that is causing the Nexus 5's processor to go in overdrive while using the camera app. According to the company, the same bug is also behind the whopping battery drain that many users are facing with their smartphones. Google has promised to fix this issue in the next maintenance update, which will likely roll out as Android 4.4.3.
"Thanks, everyone, for reporting about this problem. We believe we have fixes for the current CPU reports on N5 due to mm-qcamera-daemon, and they will be included in the next maintenance update," the company noted in a post on the Google Issue Tracker.
It's worth pointing out, however, that Google is only acknowledging this bug as an issue affecting the Nexus 5. If you have experienced this issue on other smartphones after upgrading to the latest Android 4.4.2 version, the company suggests you file your complaints on its user forums. In other words, it's not 100 percent certain yet that this bug affects only the Nexus 5 after the Android 4.4.2 update, and is not an issue with the update itself. If it would be a bug in the firmware version, it would affect other devices as well, not just the Nexus 5.
Consequently, if you have a device other than the Nexus 5 and are experiencing such issues after the Android 4.4.2 update, file your complaints with Google and also drop by our comment section below to tell us all about it.
