The official trailer for the live-action adaptation of Borderlands is finally here after several years of delay, and it does not disappoint. Featuring actors like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black, fans might just find themselves excited for the upcoming film.
'Borderlands' Characters
In just a little under three minutes, the first trailer already shows us what kind of adaptation we'll see this coming August 9th. While there have been people who are already expecting the film to be bad, the trailer is enough to make anyone optimistic about the release.
For starters, the actors are portraying the characters well. Cate Blanchett gives off the same energy that we see in Lilith throughout the games, which is the formidable Siren who can take charge amidst all the action in what she calls the "weirdest, most dangerous, dumpster fire of a world in the universe."
The character that fans seem to be doubtful about is Kevin Hart's Roland. The soldier is seen as a more series character in the latter games. Hart's comedic personality might not be what fans are expecting from the character, but it could certainly bring something new to the movie.
One that seems promising is Ariana Greenblatt's Tiny Tina. As players know, the energetic character is a little too explosion-happy all the time, which makes sense since Tiny Tiny is a demolitions expert. Greenblatt's performance shows exactly just that.
Claptrap, staying true to his name, remains the overenthusiastic robot that we get to see in the games. Voiced by Black Jack, the actor adds a more funny factor to the character, effectively portraying the role of comedic relief in the franchise.
Tannis is a little unsteady in the game because of what she went through in her quest to find the hidden Eridian vault, and to no surprise, Jamie Lee Curtis is doing a good job at bringing Tannis and all of her anxieties to life.

Atmosphere
The trailer really does look like the exact live translation of Borderlands. Even Kevin Hart was enthusiastic about the set when they started filming, stating that he doesn't think fans "have a clear understanding of how close we're coming to the game," as per Collider.
The first game is set in Pandora, which is a wasteland full of bandits, raiders, and other creatures that are out to kill the player. All those elements were shown in the trailer, which adds weight to the statement about its authenticity.
We get futuristic cities, a secret vault holding Eridian artifacts, rusted vehicles scattered across the place, and more barren land filled with crazed bandits to explore. Looking at the comments, people seem to be sure the movie will fail.
Of course, this is just a few minutes of the overall movie, and we won't know what it will actually be like until we watch it. The trailer boasts that the movie came from the producers of movies like "Uncharted," "Spider-Man," and "Venom," so take that as you wish.
