The LG G Flex just got the weirdest video ad, and that's mildly put. Some may find it amusing, while some may find it downright disturbing.
LG's first curved-display smartphone, the LG G Flex, has launched a while back and is already available for purchase in several regions, including the U.S. While innovative and intriguing, the handset didn't see such a wide adoption as the company likely hoped for, and it's questionable whether the latest ad will be able to change things for the better.
The company markets its LG G Flex as the "most human phone ever," and there's nothing wrong with that. When you see an ad with an ear and a good amount of facial hair in the palm of your hand instead of a smartphone, something may start to seem a bit off.
The new commercial stars "Danny boy," who receives an LG G Flex as a gift for his birthday. The "human phone" can't wait to be taken out of the box, but what you see is not quite a smartphone. The birthday boy takes his present out of the box and answers the call, but instead of the G Flex he holds an ear and a mouth with a beard in the palm of his hand. And yes, "Danny boy" talks into the mouth with the beard.
The human phone even scratches Danny's hand at one point, because it's so realistic, but fret not - the hand magically heals itself, just like the LG G Flex automatically recovers from small scuffs and scratches due to its self-healing back plate.
If this didn't convince you, wait until you see the whole thing. The commercial ends with the birthday boy making out with his hand, i.e. the incredibly human LG G Flex. If LG was shooting for something different with its latest ad, it definitely achieved it.
As for the LG G Flex itself, it's quite an intriguing smartphone. It has a large 6-inch screen, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a curved display, and a self-healing back plate. The new ad, however, may do it more harm than good. Check out the video below to see for yourself and drop by our comment section below to let us know what you think.
